Very true. Also, if you're just learning, barre chords will have you playing songs right away, and will keep you from being fustrated. They do have their uses in songs, too. They sound very strong and bitting in a way that full chords can lack. As a mainly-self-taught guitar player, I can tell you that I have learned the most from listening to and watching people play. But very who you study, or else fall into the trap I did; I have studied Kristin and also a little Polly Harvey, and alot of my songs sound like theirs! Oh, and in case you didn't notice, if you have ever seen Kristin (a *great* guitar player) live, she uses alot of barre chords. Have fun, and don't get too discouraged; playing guitar is TONS of fun!
