Post-modernism is an ugly, ugly term, and no question about it, but it *is* an interesting concept, so I recommend that people just make up some other word for it to use among their friends. I really do use "Hilda". That said, Hilda is at heart the idea that there's nothing new under the sun; that the art of today and tomorrow is the misappropriation and reinterpretation of the art of yesterday. Hilda art tends to use a lot of collage, found objects, etc. Personally, I don't like the defeatism inherent in the academic definition of Hilda, but I do like a lot of the art produced using it/her as a jumping-off point.
