1. I must admit that I've not read much Ginsberg, however, I find that my first impressions rarely mislead me.
I wish I could say the same. I find that my first impressions are usually pretty distorted. It usually takes me some time to absorb a thing, to learn more about it, before I am able to discern its true nature or value. In our society, people often stand behind the things which the ‘media’ or ‘popular opinion’ deem valuable, without ever having understood what lends something its value, what makes it valuable. We, as a society are conditioned to respond to media that way. We’re conditioned by ‘media’ to respond to a single, a video, a package, we just go along with it, because just by the shear nature of our consumptive society we are overwhelmed into doing so. Kind of like the ‘pet rock’ phenomena. What purpose could a ‘pet rock’ possiblly serve? Yet how many thousands or millions of people marched into the stores and bought one? We are conditioned to respond.
Your very fortunate to contain the power which enables you to be rarely mislead. I take it your an artist, because only an artist could develope such trust in their instincts. I believe ‘intuitive’ is the word. But I would lend you a word of caution: Think long and hard about the conclusions which your ‘first impressions’ are leading you too. I think you might find that when you filter out all the conditioned stimuli, you might be left with a very different conclusion.
2. I think that I would be afraid to touch something entitled "Reality Sandwiches." The sound of those words, for me, creates a sensation not unlike that of the odor of hippies.
Hmmm... You're not a hippie, are you?
I just is. What label’s do you need to identify with, or label someone with, to prop yourself up?
3. About your other message: I don't understand the significance of your question about using "Ginsberg sucks" and "tenth grade" in the same sentence.
I like Ginsbergs poetry, but my admiration ends there. He claims that it as in protest over something that the magazine TIME wrote or said, or did or whatever, and he joined The Man Love Boy Association. A most disgusting organization that promotes pedophilia. He was at one time quoted as saying that “there was nothing like the love between a man and a boy.”
I can understand his frustration at the media for ‘labeling’ him, but I have great difficulty understanding his reasoning behind that move. He’s kinda flaky like that. I don’t think he’s a pedophile, atleast there has never been any incident to lead one to believe that he was.
Please don’t take my word for any of this, go find out for yourself.
