I heard the promo - it was a couple of months ago. The show is a vapid less-scary rip-off of Millenium (which is vapid itself) so I've only seen it a little. The soundtrack for Profiler doesn't use music from bands (I don't think it does). However, Homicide (which is a great show) often uses music from outside sources for tight moments - some of it quite good but doesn't list who the songs are by (some I've known, some I've lamented not knowing).
BTW, John Greene had a message about the promo a little while back.
