Yeah! Speaking of mundane lyrics, I hear something about "Cherry Coke"
somewhere on _Heaven or Las Vegas_; can't remember where at the moment,
it's been a while. I'm not kidding. I always thought I was crazy, but
maybe not in light of "chicken pot pie"...

Hello all,
I hadn't heard anything as of yet, but last night's Dead Can Dance
show in SLC was cancelled due to Lisa Gerrard's illness. Does
anyone know if they will be rescheduling shows?

Maybe we could plan a couple of sites for the fest and some how
internet-link them on a web site with some sort of real-time chat or

Is anybody that techo-fluent?

Something the orb and/or their label did was to have an album release
party, but in several cities all over the place. One representative would
host the party and help publicize it, he/she would get a bag of goodies to
give away, and people would show up.

So rather than dividing it up and limiting it to just a few continents, why
not make it a lot easier and accessible by having 4AD-subFests throughout
the world in several cities, tied together somehow live through something
on the net, even something as basic as IRC or CU-SeeMe.

It wouldn't require much effort, except some help in publicity from the
list members/net community and 4AD to spread the word. BTW, I'm willing to
help out in any way I can.

Nope, not yet. According to Mr. D and the Perdition Plastics guy, the CD
won't be out for another month or so (although I must admit that's been the
regular party line for the last... um, nine months or so, but figure
they're busy folks).

>what's the deal with the vinyl version of stars on esp? monomix? anyway,

>From what I've been told, it is a different mono mix of the CD. The sleeve
design is different, and it's also a hair expensive ($18 at Mod Lang last
week, tho' I haven't been able to even find one measly copy here in Texas).

>what other crazy esp items have been recently and/or will be soon

There's also a mono/wire recorder super no-fi ESP Summer 7" which is
supposedly due out on Perdition Plastics. Personally I'm kinda waiting for
the full line of ESP Ultraman action figures, but I know I'm setting myself
up for a big disappointment. ;)

Ask away, my good man.

The rumors are true---4AD recently anounced that Belly has, in fact,
broken up. Tanys has 17 songs already sone for a solo album that will
come out on 4AD. And who is her drummer going to be? David Lovering from
the Pixies! Yay!!!! Can't wait to hear the album....

Don't know what else to say about the '83 demos...Apart from the fact
that they were just that...*demos*...And not meant for release...I think
it should be left to the band's discretion whether or not a demo is fit
for release or not...If it wasn't for thefts back in the early days in
Boston, I doubt demos would be owned by anyone...The '85 cassette will be
released as is... It was an official "release" by the band at the time,
mailed to radio and all (at which time Sinkhole became the #1 College
track in the US!)... As for T and Leslie's parts on the '83 songs...The
songs (especially back then) were almost solely Kristin's vision... David
and KH would play these songs over and over again, up in Dave's attic...
Considering that, I figure it's only fair that it be left up to KH, as to
when a version of a song is final... Leslie wasn't even in the band yet
in '83...People who haven't *heard* old demos, shouldn't *praise* old
demos (imagine someone publishing the diary you kept when you were 15)...
Best, thrilly

If he is working with Tanya now, what ever happened to the Martinis? I
never heard anything from them aside from the one song on the Empire

bad, in a way- I liked that song, but a TD/DL collaboration- THAT sounds
FANTASTIC! I can't wait to hear it!

Does anyone have the e-mail addy for 4AD mailorder (sorry Andie, again). I

I am trying to sort through my collection (and also pay some bills) so I've
posted some 4AD items I'm auctioning on rec.music.marketplace.vinyl and
rec.music.marketplace.cd. I know some folks don't like long lists posted
to the mailing list, so I didn't include the items here. If you are
interested, you can find the posting on Usenet; also I put a copy on my web
page at http://www.electriciti.com/~dclegg or email me and I'll send you a

The Shaolin Temple Record label has released in the past the ESP
Beetles/Jennifer Wolski split 7" (featuring Warren, Davin, Matt, and
others) and we also have released the Melody Farm EP featuring His Name
Is Alive and LIttle Princess. Both are available from the Shaolin Temple
for $3 ($5 overseas). Cash preferred; make checks payable to David Pozniak.

I hear all that stuff, too, and I think it's pretty funny. What kind
of fucking loser has a song ruined for them because of the inanity of
the lyrics, especially a song by the cocteau twins? Didn't listening
to the twins teach you anything about the [lack of] importance of
song lyrics? It's the vox, not the words, stupid! If you want
"meaningful" lyrics go listen to "classic/protest" rock on the radio
and begone from here! What a joke.
