Subject: Breeders Digest # 2

I just received issue number 2 of BREEDERS DIGEST this past week. I
almost forgot I subscribed way back when! Kudos to the now San
Francisco based Sheenah Fair and her Breeders zine. She does a
damn fine job and has the band's full support and endorsement.

No CD included with this issue but there are some cool features.
There's an intro piece from Josephine where she talks about the fact
that EVERY fan letter sent in does get read by her.

Kelley has a KELVIS REPORT talking about such things as the
availability of The Breeders on vinyl and what happens to the band's
share of money raised by that "No Alternarive" compilation. Each
Breeder gets their space to write a personal band update and
there's info on Solid State, er, I mean The Kelley Deal 6000 as well.

A discography of The Breeders is included and an expanded Home
Shopping selection for those wanting Breeders pillow cases. You
can order The Kelley Deal 6000 album as well as the 4AD promo
single for "Bragging Party" from The Amps (1AMP).

It's not often such a fanzine or newsletter is sent out from 4AD bands
so it's definitely worth supporting this one! The Scheer "Schism"
newsletter is pretty good too! Why not write Sheenah for info on how
to subscribe to Breeders Digest...

BREEDERS DIGEST
Suite # 250
109 Minna Street

It wasn't mentioned in the zine but I've heard from 4AD themselves
that there will be the inexplicable release from The Amps called
"The Pacer Remixes". I'm not sure who's doing the remixing but
expect it out later this year, unless you know different!

I'm also curious about new signings Gus Gus, Ivo's re-issue plans
for The Jive Bombers and that 10" series. Anyone got any news
about these or other new developments?

        Hi,

i'm writing from Brazil and I run a demo-tapes label. I've already relea

Midsummer Madness which is the name of the zine i publish for 7 years now (the l

 the net interview).
I started the label in order to organize something similar to the beginn

arriers especially in this list.
So, if anyone is interested, just send me your postal address that I wil
send a tape of one of my favourite bands released so far: STELLAR. This is a fo
r people band, three guitars , three voices and a percurssion (no bass), sometim

"THRUMMING SOOTHINGLY".
Hope I am clear enough; JUST SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS AND GET THE TAPE FOR F

I'm down in Richmond and want to go to the DC show, but I don't know
my way around the city. We were thinking of taking the train into
the city, but don't really know where to get off or go from there.
Could any be kind enough to give me directions.

BTW, I was even debated whether or not to see them this time because
I'm just not impressed with the last few EP's from them. However,
having just picked up the Milk and Kisses album this weekend, I am
happy to say that they are back the way that I have always known and
loved them. So I've just got to see them again!

PS. Does anyone expect this show to sell out? When they came to
Philly the last time, we had our pick of seats because they only
sold about a third of the theater.

So...

Regarding Trey Many from HNIA/Liquorice who is/is in Velour...

Someone on the list had mentioned that they bought this CD at a Christian
Music Store a while back...

Saturday, the band played at some Christian Rock hangout in the area
(Birmingham, Alabama). I only found this out last night...

What makes this music-I've heard only one song-Christian? Why has Velour been
put into this category? The lyrics were, on this particky song,
unintelligible...

How does one get a hold of this CD? The one song that I did hear was very
good...very HNIA and is, which has been mentioned, produced by Warn
hisself...

And on the sub of drummers on 4AD's other bands, how does one obtain a copy
of the Dart (which features RHP's Anthony Koutsos on drums) "36 Cents an
Hour" LP? Is it only on Che (i.e. import)?

Curious Roy

Did you aver step back and think that maybe she was not allowed to
accept large bills due to company policy? Perhaps she would have
had trouble with whomever she works for if she had taken the bill.
This whole rant sound to me like you decided you hated her on site,
and subsequently took everything she did as a personal attack on you.

> ...this excuse for a human being is asking me if i am over 21.
> ...i look way over 21 (though in reality, I AM 21!).

Maybe you don't look over 35. many places have a policy of carding
anyone under 35 (or some other arbitrarily high number) to protect
themselves from getting into trouble with the law. She may have
been concerned that you weren't old enough and would therefore
have trouble getting into the venue. She may have been instructed
to check IDs for anyone who looked younger than a certain age.
It sounds to me like you should be directing your anger at someone
in power (the government, the ticket offices, the organizers of
the show, etc.) rather than attacking a single employee who was
most likely just doing what she was being payed to do.

So I guess this has shit all to do with the 4AD list.

Everyone buy everything on Bedazzled.

later on,

they're on tooth and nail records -- not a christian label, but one who
carries a lot of christian bands. that's why. starflyer 59, also on
tooth and nail, are also really good. someone on the mbv list said that
morella's forest (yet another t and n band) was great, too. check out their
website at http://www.toothandnail.com or something like that. they're
located in seattle, so if all else fails, you can get their number through
information...they sell direct, though if i remember right, they're a bit on
the expensive side ($10 for an ep, $14 for a full-length, or something like
that.) starflyer 59's "she's the queen" ep is really good i've heard.

I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. The lyrics I could
understand were ambiguous at best - no overt religious statements. There
was a "thank you god" in the liner notes, but that's all I've found...

I don't think it's quite as good as HNiA. In fact, I don't really like
the vocals too much... or maybe it's the vocal melody I don't like - kinda
repetetive/uninspired.

I found the disc at Evangel, a Christian bookstore in the Seattle area. I
guess you can order directly from the label, Tooth & Nail, as well.
They've got a web page...
