After years of decreased day-to-day input into 4AD from the late 90s, Ivo finally sold off his share in the company back to Beggars Banquet in late 1999. He is now following his new interest: photography. Chances are we'll see photo books from Ivo on St. Ann's Press, a publishing house founded by Ivo's former 4AD #2 man Robin Hurley.

Since the layoffs of various UK and US 4AD staff in 1998 and 1999 it was clear the label was in its final days. Beggars chief Martin Mills assigned former Beggars head of press Chris Sharp to take over Ivo's job as head of 4AD. Various other Beggars staff were brought in to help run the label. The US office in Los Angeles was shut down and all US marketing is now done via the New York offices of Beggars.

4AD managed to last twenty years under Ivo's command and starting in 2000 the label is essentially an arm of Beggars, using the 4AD logo for name brand recognition.
