My thoughts about Pinkerton...
First of all I must say that their first album was and still is one of my absolute favourites among the numerous records I have. I really hoped that Pinkerton would be as good as that, and when I heard Weezer play live I really believed it. Now, when I have got my hands the album I must say that it is better than the previous one. I can't help it, it is just one of the better records I have ever heard. There is just one thing I can complain at: Pinkerton is too short.

I heard them live when they played in Gino, Stockholm, the 28th of August 1996. I won't forget it. The only problem was that I couldn't always hear the name of the songs (no one talked a lot in the band, to say the least), therefore it was a surprise for me that I remembered quite a lot of the songs when I finally heard the album three weeks later.

They still have some of their old sound, but the music is a bit more experimental and rough. Weezer has produced the album themselves and no one has made it smoother or changed anything. Right or wrong, I don't know. But it sounds very good, so I won't complain.

Tired Of Sex
A fast song with interesting lyrics and I would say that it is very much like Weezer. It has the special sound of Weezer. And a very fast guitar solo from Brian.

Getchoo
A very heavy song. And I mean it. It's one of the songs I remember best from their live appearance. I don't think I will forget it now either. Very good.

No Other One
The beginning of the song sounds a bit like the Flaming Lips, and sometimes during the song you also begin to think about the same group. But in between these parts it's pure Weezer. Very good lyrics and this is another of the songs I remember from Gino.

Why Bother?
Very good chorus. One of these songs you will have pounding in your head all day. Impossible to forget and very good.

Across The Sea
A slow and quiet intro ends in a quite ordinary song from Weezer. First I didn't think much about it, but when I had heard it a couple of times (and received a couple of mails) I started to like it.

The Good Life
A very cool intro. You get a feeling that you have heard the chorus somewhere else, but I can't place it. I have got some suggestions but I can't verify them. One told me that it was Santa Monica by Everclear, another one that it was taken from a song by The Pointers Sisters. But it doesn't matter, the song is good anyway.

El Scorcho
This song sounds a bit like the Presidents of USA, especially in the quiet parts. This is the first single from Pinkerton and it's a good choice, because El Scorcho reflects a bit of what you can expect from the album. I remember this one from Gino, because it's even better live.

Pink Triangle
Another song with interesting text. A quite ordinary song, but still good.

Falling For You
As I have allready written this song sounds a bit like the Beatles. The chorus is very good. One of the songs I remember from Gino, and I like it very much.

Butterfly
The last song of the album is quiet and a bit sad. Just an acoustic guitar and a bass drum, except for Rivers' song. A very good song and it makes a fine end of a very good record.

If you liked the first album, buy Pinkerton - you won't regret it!
And to you who haven't yet discovered Weezer, buy both.
