LIFE AFTER VOLUME?
IT wasn't until the recent 'King' album that Belly released another 'official' record (not counting 1993's Japan-only B-sides compilation, 'Baby Silvertooth'), but after their Volume Six effort they had tracks appearing all over the place, including a version of 'Are You Experienced?' on the 'Stone Free' Hendrix tribute LP and various songs on free tapes attached to inky rags. That same year they performed at the Glastonbury festival, one of 195 gigs in 20 countries that they played between releasing 'Star' and recording 'King' (statistics, we've got'em). Belly were also nominated for two Grammies and two MTV awards, while 'Star' went gold in America and silver in the UK. In July '94 a US-only CD, the 'Moon' EP, was released and then Belly concentrated on recording 'King'. Tanya wrote all the songs on 'Star', but on 'King' two were co-written with Gail and four with Tom. 'King' was released in February to general acclaim, followed by the four-track EP 'Super-Connected'. A new single, 'Seal My Fate', appears in July, after Belly play the Glastonbury festival! Peace!
