What time does AMP air?
Date: Sun, 12 Jan 1997 21:36:32 -0800
Is anyone in the know about this soundtrack and the fact that it has, of all
bands, His Name is Alive on it!!!??? I was unfamiliar with the song on
it...it had the typical long, oblique HNIA kind of title...anyone have any
info please? On a total whim I picked up this soundtrack (and I have not
seen the movie and have no plans to)...
Thanks,
Peter

I caught it Saturday night/Sun am from 1-2, though I've also heard
rumours of friday night/sat am from 2-3.

It's "Sitting Still Moving Still Staring Outlooking", a beautiful
instrumental from Home Is In Your Head. That's the only reason i saw the
movie and I actually enjoyed it (please, no "you actually liked that piece
of ****??" replies) Only about 5-10 seconds of it are used in the movie,
and used fairly well I'd say. Might be nice to have the soundtrack
version because the album version just fades in at the end of the track
before it, and i'm sure the soundtrack version has a clean beginning and
ending.

FSOL's - Amoeba.

Apparently in the next few weeks, they are going to try Amp (experimental)
where they do *not* play an underworld video :)
Don't get me wrong, I like the underworld, but I've seen "Born Slippy" at
least (last check) 32 times now and it's time to run something else into the
ground. Couldn't they dig up a few more Gary Numan vids?

What Laika videos are there?

colourbox HAS to be next (or some classic Xymox clips).

The tour book has picture of the touring band members and intro material
witten by Lisa. (I'm at work now and don't have it in front of me to be
more specific) The CD has one track on it of material from the same
sessions, but was not released on, their last studio album. Actually I
like the track a lot. Sorry, my own copy is not for sale as it is
autographed by Lisa and by one of the percussionists from the touring
band. Saw them in Miami - it was wonderful beyond words, and Lisa came
out and talked to a bunch of us in an alley outside the theatre for
about twenty minutes before heading for her hotel.

For U.S. listees this might be of interest:

"The USA Network original series LA FEMME NIKITA premieres
tonight at 10pm.
[SNIPPED plot of show and other details...guess y'all have to tune
in to find out what happens!]
"NIKITA is shot
stylishly, and has a hip alternative soundtrack featuring a
number of artists such as CURVE that perfectly suit the mood
of the series."

Well it has been a while since my last entry. I am trying to get rid of my
AOL account (that company sucks). The point of this message is that you are
invited to attend the Reykjavik show (even though Cliff from the UK beat me
with the invitation). Gus Gus will not be doing tons of dates so catch them
while you can. you can reach either Baldur or Cliff or me. You probably
have the email address already.

In the Setanta Christmas package was this handy info update. Setanta is
of course the label that The Glee Club resided on at one time for the
4AD/Setanta "Mine" album joint venture...
Coming up for 1997 from Setanta... New albums from A House, The Harvest
Ministers and "Casanova" from The Divine Comedy. (I believe this is out
already most everywhere.)
Also, new Catchers (great band!), Frank & Walters, Guy Chadwick (ex-
House Of Love), Comsat Angels reissues (we're still woeking on this
one), Edwyn Collins, Verbana (through Merge Records) and more Divine
Comedy.
Setanta will also have a full catalog of releases issued so, it says
here, you won't have to strain your eyes on xeroxed ads from The Big
Takeover magazine.
Whatever happened to The Glee Club anyways??

...actually, the soundtrack version has the HNIA track mixed in between
two live tracks from The Who. Yes, actually mixed, meaning The Who
track starts to fade out with audience cheering as the HNIA track
begins. Kinda struck me as an unusual way to do it but hey, Warren got
the bucks from Sony so I guess it's OK.

I don't know exactly how many they have made, but I know there are vids for
"Only Shallow", "To Here Knows When", "Swallow", and "Soon". They were all
done by the same director, and therefore all look VERY similar. Lots of "oh
wow I must be on acid" trails and blurry white-out sorts of images, but fun
to watch nonetheless. "Only Shallow" is the only one that looks even
remotely different, and it's the one that got some airplay on MTV's 120
Minutes back when it used to be almost worth staying up until midnight on a
Sunday night to watch.
All four of these vids are available on a Creation Records video compilation
featuring My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and Primal Scream. There's also a lot
of interview material in between the videos. I think the video is called
"The Story of Creation", and is not too rare.

i'm finally getting around to having this auction thingy. if you want any info
on any of the items, email me directly. the auction will be over on 1/27 at
midnight. send all bids to me... anything sent to the list will be ignored.
every two or three days i will send an update to the people who have placed
a bid. it will contain the highest bid for an item with the first five
letters/numbers of that person's email address. i'm going to charge $2
shipping, reguardless of the size of the package. free shipping if you
pay with a money order. note: i reserve the right to not sell an item if
the highest bid on it is a lot lower than it's worth to me(i.e. if $10 is
the maximum for "mai pen rai", i will hold on to it). thanks, and i hope
you find something you've been looking for.
