I think Medicine were signed to Creation for the duration of their first
album, _Shot_Forth_Self_Living_, which spawned the two single/EPs,
"Aruca" and "5ive". They were dropped from Creation around the same time
that every other good band was dropped (apparently in order to devote
their attention to signing "great" bands like Oasis), and I think all of
their subsequent releases were issued by Beggars Banquet in the UK.
Since _Her_Highness_ was released when I wasn't on the list, I'm curious
as to what others might have to say about that album. I think it's
fantastic, but of all the other people I know who have been into them
since _SFSL_, I seem to be the only person who holds that opinion. It's
a shame that they broke up, since they were one of the very few bands who
really showed the potential to keep getting better rather than worse as
time went on. But oh well.

Actually, I thought they were signed to American Recordings (formerly Def
American). Or is American part of the Beggars Banquet family?
I agree about "Her Highness"; I really like it. I hear the band hated it,
though.

times :)

I love Medicine, right from "Shot Forth" up to "Her Highness". The
Medicine EPs on Creation are great! "Aruca" (CRESCD135) is more of a
single than an EP but all the B-sides are choice! The "5ive" EP, which
is actually named "Come Here To Drink Milk" (CRESCD141) is worth
searching out as it features "Time Baby II", which was rerecorded for
the UK "Time Baby III" single (ARB6CD; Beggars Banquet) and the US "The
Sounds Of Medicine" EP (45609-2; American/WB). There is also another
"The Buried Life" album era EP called "Never Click" (ARB3CD; Beggars
Banquet) that is equally well worth tracking down...
Unfortunately, Creation lost a swack of good bands in the following
years like Medicine, Swervedriver and Ride. Sure, some broke up on
their own but not due to any great promotion effort from Creation. The
label, which is simply an alternative arm of Sony Music Entertainment
now, is just a fancy "boutique" label for Oasis releases.

Quite possibly one of the greatest "love" songs ever recorded!

Actually, we were talking about the UK releases. They were signed to
(Def) American here in the US for all three albums, but unfortunately,
they opted not to commerically release the singles over here.

Oh yeah! I meant to ask about that, because it's the only release that I
don't own that I'm aware of. (Just look at that preposition dangle.) Is
the version of "Never Click" the same as the one found on _TBL_, or is it
an edit/remix? What other tracks are on that EP? Is it out of print
yet?
Also, after they broke up, there was some talk (I think) of some
vinyl-only releases on obscure indie labels. Anyone got any hard info on
these (presuming that they ever came to light at all)?

It also has two Lisa Gerrard songs I believe.
