Is this an IPR release? I've never heard Half String before, but only
because I haven't had the funds to follow up on the loads of accolades
they've received, both here and via other, er, forms of communication.

Yeah, it is IPR. I like other IPR stuff, (I would really like Scenic if
there were vocals of some sort). But nothing quite compares to Half String.
They are Blissful and melancholy at the same time. Gliding is the word I
often hear to describe them. I have their previous two cd eps and their new
full length album and everything is great. On 4ad, the closest I think I
could compare to is Old Lush, Swallow, some CTs, Pale Saints. You should
hear it though. THe only problem is that their last album is limited to
2000, so I would go get one as soon as possible. THe very best of the
beautiful noise scene.

...and keep this neo-Nazi whatever crap off the list! As someone else
has already said, the topic is now long dead. And even if it wasn't,
this isn't the forum.

I have already posted a message where I apologize for forwarding this
message. If it didn`t arrive at the list, please mail me and I will send it
again. I also mailed the men who posted this to me and he said it would be
alright when I give you his email address so everyone who has a problem with
my post can mail him, too. BTW, Rev. Bob Crispen: talking of thinking is it
that difficult to post a message one time and not twice? Also I`m on the Net
since about one and a half months, so please apologize if there are some
things I don`t know yet.

For those of you whom I owe those legendary
free copies of the Dewdrops 7", at length I have
decided to do what I should have in the first place:
send you the darn records so you have something to
listen to while you wait for the sleeves. I still
have your addresses, and will send them out as
soon as possible. I feel bad about making all of
you wait for so long, but it's been unavoidable.
Life... don't talk to me about life...

If you don't know what I'm talking about, see our
web page. It's now a christmas '96 release, only
a year late... a sample of what we've achieved up to
this point, and a primer for what's to come in February.

I really like the new Half String CD too. I've been following them since
their first Beautiful Noise Festival here in the Phoenix area and I remain
continually impressed. When I bought their EP, "Tripped Up Breathing," it
stayed glued in my CD player for two weeks straight. I can't remember
another time when I abandoned my sizable CD collection to just one disc
(and a short disc at that!).

To answer a few questions about Half String...

They are on Independant Project Records, which is run by Bruce Licher of
Scenic. Licher's ingenius letterpressed CD packaging is almost worth the
price of the CDs in and of itself. Brandon Capps (who has posted here
recently) fronts the band with vox and guitar, and also works for IPR on
the side. Kimber Lanning -- the Czarina of Stinkweeds, the greatest record
store on the planet -- is the outstanding drummer with a style reminiscent
of Pale Saints (who needs a high-hat when you can just use the ride?!).
Dave Rogers plays bass and also has a wonderful little outfit on the side
called The Introspection Trio (a great mini-cassette that is). The other
guitarist is Mike, but I really don't know anything about him. I didn't
meet him until their last show in Tempe about a month ago.

By the way, this is not a paid advertisement for the band! I'm just a local
fan who semi-halfway knows its members from small talk at their shows and
record stores.

If you want their latest CD, "A Fascination with Heights," contact IPR at:
post box 1033, Sedona, AZ 86339. You can also contact Stinkweeds at: 1250
E. Apache #109, Tempe, AZ 85281.

I am on no-one's payroll, I promise! I just like good bands to get heard d:^{)]

In the NME interview with Tanya Donelly she mentions
that Chris Gorman is doing the artwork for "new 4AD band
Polaro". Does anyone know anything about these?

No, but there's an Interscope band called Polara which has Chris Gorman
listed as doing the cover art for the "Pantomime" EP. It's a photo of a
rocket or missile. It's a good song. It's got a good beat and I have
dance to it. I give it a 7:)

On a somewhat related 4AD note, has anyone heard of any new release, or
when one might be out, for Breathless. I heard they were working on one
for about the last year and a half.

Also, can anyone confirm a new This Mortal Coil in the works?

Lastly, in reference to Half String, besides doing great music, the
drummer... Kimber ...rocks!!!!!!

Did he form the band ...BUD?

Any answers I would appreciate!!!
