Subject: Spoonfed Hybrid Japanese cd for sale/trade

I have an extra copy of the Japanese cd version of the first Spoonfed
Hybrid album. This contains two bonus tracks, which were on the 7" in
the initial copies of the Guernica vinyl version, but which didn't
show up on the UK cd.

I would like to trade, if possible, so write me if you are interested
and we can work something out, for just some regular UK import cd,
not particualrly 4AD - I need that new St. Etienne double Casino
Classics cd, for instance.

please respond to [email protected]

thanks!

I was in a record store the other day and saw a 12" w/ no sleeve in the
HNIA section. it said it was a new project by Warren...it described the
reord as dancey and sounding like Aphex Twin. Anyone have more info on
this and can someone tell me whether it is worht picking up???

Thanks,

Matt

This is probably the Control Panel 12", which I've heard is Warren's=
venturings into ambient terriotory. I've also heard the beats described as=
being Aphex-like (somehow I doubt that though). I haven't picked it up yet,=
so maybe someone who's heard it can comment on it.

I understand that Lance Hogan and Ronan O Snodaigh, who tour with DCD, have
their own band called 'Kila'. Unfortunately, I haven't been successful in
finding any of their releases here in the states. Would you any suggestions
of where I might find their albums?

Thanks,

mario

The Control Panel '02' 12", on Insignificant Records (INS. 15) disappointed
my expectations, after the excellent 'Technological LP' tape on Time Stereo.
The Time Stereo tape is challenging, and some parts sounds like a kind of
ambient version of ESP Summer. The 2 sides of the 12" on the other hand
sound clumsy and are really boring (really Aphex-like!). So I'd say: buy the
tape instead of the 12".

CONTROL PANEL 02 - s/t 12" (Insignificant Records/Time Stereo)

Yo! This 'B' the Warren D flyboy posse, right?

if it is, it's the best thing DeFever's done since _Home Is In Your Head_!

Taking Goblin's electronic terror-film scores as a starting point (especially
_Suspense Transfer Hypnos_ (here known as _Beyond the Door 2_ and _Profondo
Rosso_), the a-side has beautifully Spoonfed Hybrid-like piano ripples, a spare
snare skipping in the background, and sparse melting loops of one-fingered
keyboard melody - reverbed from here to infinity. Bravo, Warren!
Closest analogue might be the HNIA track on _Ambient Extractions 2_ - with less
of a dance-beat. Though a very frail beat does emerge halfway through the track.
Utterly enrapturing (adj - meaning 'would fit splendidly on the UK's Enraptured
label).

3-note piano phrase is retained, some Autechresque drum programming takes the
forefront (the resulting shambolic construction is a dead-ringer for a 4-tracked
Disjecta!) - warbly Moog filaments intrude, bubbling away in perfectly contented
oblivion. The beats get more complex (music-box versions of Polygon Window?!),
some fuzz-noise (what would a DeFever production be without fuzz-noise????) is
stirred in - dem beats start fibrillatin' like mofos, approach spacy Howie B
territory, and finally burn themselves out... exiting 'stage-left' along with
that nagging and insistent piano loop.

sure restores my faith in the D-man after that lackluster HNIA album!
anyone else have thoughts on this.

I remember awhile back (about 6 or 7 months ago), someone mentioned a
nifty little two-disc set put out by Virgin with lots of this-listy music
on it. I know this isn't much info to go by, but does anyone recall the
title of it?

Thanks,
Jake

Its called Monsters, Robots and Bug Men and it features
such bands as Jessamine, Flying Saucer Attack, Stereolab
and others. I taped it off a radio show last night but as I write this I
have still not listened to it (only the 2nd half was broadcast
on CBC Stereo AT 2:30 AM!! so). I am pretty sure this is what
you are talking about.
