I'm really curious about this as well - Autechre and FSOL on MTV US? It
sounds too bizarre to be true. (though they did play that amazing Orbital
video)

I was going to put the VCR on, when I realized you forgot to mention what
day you'd seen it. Not Sunday - friday? saturday?

I've heard rumours of a similar show on Much Music called City Limits (?)
on Friday nights, but haven't found it yet. Is it still on the air?

In the course of looking though, I found the Tube which is just hilarious
- early 80s footage of everyone from The Cocteaus, Smiths, PIL to the
Eurythmics, GoGos and Fun Boy Three. Worth watching for the
hairstyles/outfits alone.

If I recall correctly, I had just finished watching an Angels and
Insects tape (Interesting movie, BTW), and I decided to flip idly
through channels 'till I fell asleep. I tuned to MTV, and a video which
sounded alot like Aphex Twin was on. "Strange," I thought, "What would
Aphex Twin be doing on MTV?" Anyway, to make a long story short, it WAS
Aphex Twin, and plenty of cool videos followed. I believe it was on
between 1-3 am CDT on a Wednesday. I haven't heard a peep from MTV, who
normally hype shows into the ground, so I am hoping it's on M2, and not
trashed. That would be a terrible shame. Better that it be available
to others, if not myself, than to be lost.

                        Wishing the M2 viewers luck,
                                                   Chris M.

I just wanted to apologise to any people offended by my
'generalizations' about this list. No offence was meant.

Maybe I've learnt that in situation like this, alanis on a 4ad list,
that the detracters are a whole lot more verbal.
Oh, and that opinions expressed on this list are opinions of individuals
and are no that of the list at large (necessarily ;)
Sorry.

Hey, at least we're not responsible for the Dave Matthews Band, the
Presidents of the USA, Rancid...need I continue?

Actually, that should be "...un site Web", believe it or not.

Amen. Inexplicably revered by some.

To tell you the truth, I would take this joke from anyone
living in this whole world except an American......

What about Hollywood shit spread in 90 % of our cinemas around the
world ? Mc Donalds ? Walmarts ? Microsoft ? Coke and Pepsi ? etc..
  etc....

  Au Secours !!!!!!...........

This is too dramatic for me to even try sarcasm.

Sorry to all about this, I guess I'm in a bad mood......

You're so right. And I'd like to mention that I also dislike Alanis M's
music, both her lyrics and her hackneyed, formulaic tunesmanship, and so
does my husband (who, by the way, asked some of the guys at his office
why THEY like her, and they all responded that they like her persona as
reflected in her lyrics...that she seems to be a "loose" girl). Nuff
said.

Subject: That Japanese 12" 87 Anthology CD

I offered this for sale a few months ago, and since then I have been trying
to get the successful bidder to make good on his offer. I've given up now,
so I am offering this again.

Please send me offers via private e-mail; including the word "anthology" in
the subject will make it easier for the mail program to filter it.

A quick description for those not familiar with this CD:

It's a Japanese-only issue from 1987 with all of 4AD's 12-inch releases for
that year, excluding Xymox's "Blind Hearts" for some reason. It includes:

Chains Changed - Throwing Muses
Big Sex - The Wolfgang Press
Lollita - A.R.Kane
Pump Up the Volume - M/A/R/R/S
Sloppy Heart - Frazier Chorus

all with little CD-sized versions of front and back cover art, and an
original v23 / Jim Friedman sleeve.

It's currently the only CD version of Chains Changed, Lollita and Sloppy Heart.

Good condition, I bought it for $45 many years ago. I would like to trade
for something good (not necessarily rare, but probably equal money value)
but I will sell if that's better.

Please note: Chains Changed will appear on CD as part of a Throwing Music
reissue, but that has now been delayed until at least MARCH 1998. You can
find out why by looking at the "Feedback board" at
disc until at least then. It is also pretty hard to find in general - I
think the current bid on the other copy I saw offered recently is $125. I
don't expect that much myself.

Let me know what you think. Serious offers only, please - I got sick of
chasing the previous offer.

                        Matthew.

Subject: detoxification

sorry if this has been discussed before (i;ve been off the list for a few
months), but isn't detox an american indie label? is this why it's the new
guernica? i.e. u.k. only?
i saw a couple copies of the dcd translucent red 12" for "nerieka"(sp) today.
there's only one unreleased song on there. is it worth $9.99?
ok, how about another completely random question? are you ready? does anyone out
there want to sell me the kraftwerk 12" for "the model"? also, is it different
from their song "die modelle"?
ok, only one more unthreaded question; what are the differences between
colourbox's "breakdown" #'s 1 and 2? what version of "tarantula" does everyone
here prefer? i vote for the colourbox cut. seriously.

dave...not really expecting any answers, but hoping:)
