LISA GERMANO live in Canada:
Montreal, PQ Sept. 27th Cabaret (500)
Toronto, ON Sept. 28th The Horseshoe (w/Weeping Tile)
Weeping Tile are a fine Canuck band from Kingston, ON I believe who just
signed to Warner Music Canada and are well worth showing up early to see.
I saw them open for Juliana Hatfield last year and enjoyed them big time.
I don't know who is opening for the Montreal date but whatever the case,
if you're in the regions above, MAKE AN EFFORT TO SEE LISA GERMANO. Her
concert in Oct. 94 here in Toronto was intimate and intense - a real
incredible live experience. The upcoming tour is well worth attending!

Quite. I echo these sentiments. At least its not another band
cancelling coz they book to big a hall and their egos can't face
playing a half empty room.

I hope everyone will extend our best wishes to Kristin. I'm as
destroyed as everyone to be missing another concert, but, I think
everyone understands in this case.
Get Well Soon!!!

Dez-
i had just read this on the Throwing Muses web page when i then read your
e-mail message. Hope this helps to clarify things:
Posted by BillyO on September 11, 1996 at 09:10:21:
Due to complications in Kristin's pregnancy, Throwing Muses Tour dates in
the UK and Europe have
been cancelled...Kristin is currently under doctor's care, and will be
spending quite a while in bed
and at home...
The physical strain of the US promo tour caused Kristin's body to go into a
pre-labor state (singing,
and sustaining notes at that volume, is much like "pushing" in labor), in
effect fooling itself into
thinking it was time to have the baby...Needless to say a delivery at this
time would be disastrous,
threatening the lives of both mother and baby...
Throwing Muses deeply regrets having to cancel these dates, and asks for
your indulgence and
understanding...
Stay in touch, we will...
Love,
Throwing Muses

Woodenspoon's "SouffSouff" is definitely Mark Clifford. But only 700 or so were
released and they disappeared immediately. Finding a copy of this 12" now would
be like stumbling across a stash of "Hangable Auto Bulb 2"s...
"SouffSouff" is excellent - and well worth hunting down. Not terribly original -
it DOES sound like Mark Clifford pushing further into AFX territory. I think
it's his take on jungle, just as AFX did with HAB1+2. Very clattering and
strange with rapid-fire breaks and some Clifford-esque melodies. I personally
think it's the best thing he's ever done, but people who find the two Disjecta
CDs too derivative are advised to stay away.
The Woodenspoon 12" is something of a promotional stunt. Apparently, _Clean Pit
& Lid_ didn't sell as well as Warp had hoped, so they pressed this 'mystery
artist' 12" to rekindle some interest. You should have seen the insanity that
was the IDM List before the identity of Woodenspoon was let ouf of the bag! Then
again, maybe you're lucky if you didn't!
If you have heard Woodenspoon and do enjoy it, by all means track down anything
you can find on Skam. It's Autechre's side-label (and their alter-ego, Gescom,
have put out three brilliant 12"s on this imprint) and everything they've
released has been consistently excellent. Don't even THINK about missing the
Jega 12" if you appreciate truly inventive and exhillarating electronica!
Anyone ever tried e-mailing Mark C? I think I'll do that - let him know that we
haven't given up faith in our brilliant friend. Anyone want to join me?

Here's a quick update on all the happenings in Bedazzled World at the
moment --->
* The new Siddal CD, "The Crossing" is out now and is as close
to 'bliss' as you can get. Last year's "The Pedestal" merely
hinted at what this band can do .... this one is light years
beyond their earlier releases.
* The new Viola Peacock CD, "The Hangman's Beautiful Daugter"
is also out now and while it may not be what some "expect"
from Bedazzled it is a damn fine record. CMJ gave it a
jackpot review and claimed "...the 3 piece has a fondness
for downcast guitar figures, loping rhythms and thoughtful
lyrics .... turning late night introspection into hazy early
morning delirium.
* There is also a limited edition (BDZ appeals to the collector
in each of us !?!) 7" from the Curtain Society featuring
"Mouth Without" from their soon to be released CD, "Life Is
Long, Still" and a cover of "Swamp Thing" by the Chameleons
which won't appear elsewhere. 300 numbered copies. Best
Brit-pop band ever born/bred in Boston.
* WWW.BEDAZZLED.COM is alive and well (...well, under
construction anyway) and has sound clips and ordering info.
Will ultimately house bios, photos, home-movies, sounds
and all the news thats fit to print.
* The Fall Bedazzled Caravan is happening from 10/24 to 11/3
+Viola Peacock, the Curtain Society, Siddal, An April March+
10/24 Toledo, OH @ Frankies
10/25 Chicago, IL @ Neo
10/26 Ann Arbor, MI @ the Blind Pig
10/27 Columbus, OH @ the Distillary
10/28 Pittsburgh, PA @ Charlies
10/29 NYC @ Coney Island High
10/30 Baltimore, MD @ Fletchers
10/31 Wheaton, MD (DC) @ Phantasmagoria
11/1 Portland, ME @ Zootz
11/2 Boston, MA @ the Middle East
There may be one or two dates added to the front/end of this
as well but these are pretty much set up.
* We'll be releasing a limited (600 copies) CD-ep from An April
March in early October. This will be all new material with
some remixes as well. All copies will be numbered. This is
basically a precursor to another full-length which will come
out in February.
Obligatory sales info .... credit card orders -> 703-385-1234 .... mail
orders to PO Box 39195 WDC 20016. Also available from Parasol.
CD's are $12 * CD-eps are $8 * 7"s are $4 postage paid in the US

> O'RANG - FIELDS AND WAVES (on Echo)
> SILVANIA - GALAX TRAX (DELAY TAMBOR?) (on Elefant)<--feat. Locust remix!
Yes, the Silvania's "Delay Tambor" have been already released
on Elefant.
It's hard to believe that the new mixes are taken from the
same master tape that was used for "En cielo de Oceano" -an
etherealnoise's gem-.
The songs looks pretty radically different than the original
versions, some songs are very dancey -like the new version of "Oval"
made by Locust, Wooww!! what a great mix, it sounds like if it was
another world's peace of dance, it really makes me melt! Van Hoen is
an alien, i want to know more about them!! (imagine this has been the
first time i hear locust, yes mixing silvania, so it couldn't be bad)-
and other songs are very hipnotic, cosmics and irresistibily
narcotics like the new mixes of "Trilce", "Arcangel", "Raymi I" and
"Un bosque en la memoria" made by Seefeel!!! (I didn't expect less
from M. Clifford) Scanner, Scorn and Autechre!
But the 3 new Silvania's songs included in Delay Tambor, are
exagerated astrals, exagerated sick and I love that!. These sounds
makes me feel like if i was in a metamorphosis, from human to alien,
and i can't stop it -i really don't want to do it-. Thanks Mario &
Coco (Silvania), thanks van hoen, clifford, etc...
Thanks for violate me!
Thanks dear aliens!!
Regards.
Wilder.

What a shock to be watching the last week of Must See TV reruns and hear one
of my favorite songs from one of my favorite groups in a commercial for Belle
Color hair conditioner/coloring (? too busy listening to the song to notice
the exact product) from Garnier Laboratories. The song was Mario's Cafe
from their CD So Tough.
Cool. :)
