> AND WOULD! We'd have 1 valuable message a day and 25 pieces of e-trash.
Sounds better than the ratio here... <:-)

The orchestral symphony #9 is a bit of an anomaly. Most Glenn Branca is
scored for electric guitar, and lots of them (#5, I think, has 99
guitarists on stage). I'm only familiar with #3 (Gloria) and #6 (name
escapes me). Both sound pretty much like endless crescendos of Sonic
Youth tuning up (Lee and Thurston are on #3), are a bit jarring to the
ear unaccustumed to just intonation and the harmonic series, but are just
the trick for fans of piercing, hovering drones unadulterated by pop
sensibilities...

>PIAS released a two track CDsingle by Dead Can Dance...
Thanks for the info Huite, but...
A Dead Can Dance single?! Why??
(so they can get it on radio play-lists and sell more records)
And why NOW? and not when the album was released
>1. The Snake and The Moon (edit)
Why this track?
Who did the editting? (is it a fade-out after four minutes?)
>2. Song of the Nile
Why not an unreleased track? To make it more interesting...
But... I'm probably going to buy it anyway :-)

>>The forthcoming Lush compilation to be released in Japan by Nippon
>>Columbia is to be titled "Topolino", which is Italian for little mouse.
>
>maybe you be interested to know that "Topolino" was the popular nickname for
>a small car produced by Fiat in the late '50, that evolved into the 500.
>this nickname then become an official name for that car.
That's a little confusing for the viewers at home, considering Lush's
newfound fascination with the 500. It needs to be said that the Topolino and
the Cinquecento (500) are not the same thing. The Topolino is quite a bit
bigger.
Larry, still nostalgic for a Fiat 850, even though it was horribly unreliable

I like the list as it is. Having 4AD as the topic makes the boundaries very
clear. Deciding what is and isn't *ethereal* sounds more complicated
politically. Even though DCD is my favorite 4AD band, I agree with others
that an exclusive list would soon fester. Plus, I like the broad spectrum of
bands and topics. 4AD is still a small enough label to keep this list from
being overwhelming.
What I would like to see is respect for each other's band preferences. One's
tastes are inarguable, after all. For me to launch curses against bands I
don't like is nonsense - I don't have to listen that music, I don't have to
read that mail. This is a community of sorts and manners are called for.
Without manners we might as well just go kill ourselves.
As for wading through all the mail, is everyone aware of the *Digest* format?
Its great! The server collects the day's mail into a file AND catalogs all
the mail subjects at the top with a count of each subject. You can search
through the file with the *Find* function in a wordprocessor and read what
interests you in minutes, skipping all the rest. Also, the file downloads
faster than all the individual messages. To activate it send mail to
[email protected] with the messege SET 4AD-L DIGEST.
Blessed Be
