In case someone was wondering, the HNIA videos aren't on the

Also, picked this off of eyesore, http://www.evo.org/eyesore.html

Of course the 13yi video has the three and we on this side of=20

I somehow doubt the Pixies are coming back together-- the lyrics
are too obvious, and seem like more of a joke from the original Blackish
Boy. I've been wrong before, though, and I'd be happy to be wrong again.

I was wonderin if some of

YES! I love MArk Eitzel and AMC! I saw Mark's solo show (w/Bruce Kaphan) in
san Francisco. I love all of their music and I'll admit it ANYDAY! I really
could care less what anyone else here thinks about them. In response to the
previous post regarding "mark" and if it were the RHP "Mark" opening the
show, no, it's definately not the same person. They (AMC) are often
compared to RHP but, quite frankly, are not similar at all. Although I
think RHP is a very good band and one of my personal faves, Mark Eitzel has
some of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard (IMHO).

People who care nothing about music labels often stick the fellas
>in with RHP in the depressing SanFran dept.

Yeah, they do and it probably has to do with the fact that their lyrics are
somewhat depressing (just a little) but, again, the focus is very different
for both groups.

  I wonder, what would

HELL YES!

Same here....

Someone also asked about the solo album. It was supposed to be released in
Feb. but has been postponed (grapevine) by Matador until Fall! UGHHHHHH...

  Also, if anyone
>has the first album, email me and we'll trade tapes, k?

trying to find it myself! Aaron, do you also belong to the AMC/Eitzel list
(firefly)?

Anyone have any idea how much this little jewel is actually worth?

It's the little promo-paphlet that plugged the 'new' Heaven or Las Vegas
album. It's a tri-fold onion paper with a picture of Liz, Robin, and Simon
on each fold, with a cardboard/paper thing loose in the center with the
write-up.

Anyone else have one of these?

I've got one of these. If you're trying to put a monetary value on it, all
I can say is...why? I keep it just because it amuses me and because I like
the Twins. It is a nice piece of memorabilia. Like all those damn record
flats that keep accumulating...

Went to a record fair on Sunday, and found that all my Sugarcubes
singles are now worth about ten quid each, heh heh heh. I picked up the
boxed set of the first six at a similar do a couple of years ago for a
tenner, in the days before Bjork became an international star - wonder
what that's worth now?

Back to 4AD content - one stall was selling piles of promo CDs, mostly
utter rubbish, but Mojave and Air Miami were there, for six pounds each
(i.e. about half the standard UK price), so I bought "Me, Me, Me", and
have fallen in love with it. ("Ask Me Tomorrow" I already had.) I can
hear echoes of Talking Heads, early Felt, Brian Eno's vocal albums,
Everything But The Girl, My Bloody Valentine (pop version)... most of
the best intelligent pop, in short. Great artwork, short songs (length
fetishists should note that the album is about 36 minutes long), sounds
good on a cheap walkman in the winter sunshine. The only indication
that it's a promo, by the way, is a sticker on the front.

And an addendum to the 4AD catalogue plopped through my letter box this
morning - half the Cocteaus' vinyl is now unavailable, and there's a
card describing the new crop of bands which somehow manages to avoid the
words "Sl*wd*v*" when describing Mojave 3, and "crap heavy metal guitar"
when describing Scheer.

Subject: Re: bros. quay's "Institut Benjamenta"

Their first full length feature is called Institut Benjamenta and I caught
it and them at the
Toronto International Film Festival in September. They are extremely
bizarre guys who
are incredibly into filmmaking as an art form in its purest sense first.
Benjamenta takes
place in a very bizarre institution with Alice Krige and her brother as the
Benjameta
sister and brother who run the institution. It is an instution for the
insane or the socially
maladjusted (hard to determine). It is above all else a surreal picture.
Benjamenta takes
all the elements of the HNIA videos, Kafka/Walser and their other animated
shorts and
combines them with live action. The majority of the animation in this
feature is done in
subtle ways like rolling lights that pass through a room that are done with
stop action.
The film is loosely based on a short story by the Swiss (I believe) writer
Robert Walser
who was later diagnosed schizophrenic and spent the rest of his life
institutionalized.
The texture and quality of the black and white film is excellent and it
took me back to
other stuff like Erich Von Stroheim or Guy Maddin in its lush use of the
black and white
medium. They manage to get the equivalent of a very well done NIgel
Grierson photo
in a film format. They are truly an inspiration to me as a graphic designer
and I think
that you will see more of them in the years to come as the general public
will begin to
finally give them and Svankmajer their due as true filmmakers and artists.
Apparentely
they will be releasing the CD soundtrack of Institut Benjamenta (which is
truly unique
as music alone) as well as some soundtracks from their previous short films.
This of course all depends on distribution. I hope that 4AD could at least
consider it.

One question for anyone out there. Can anyone tell me what resources I can find
for the old Czech typefaces and handlettering that Bros. Quay have used in their
titles and credits for their videos and short films. I am considering using
some of these
decorative Czech typefaces for a promotion. Any help in regards to these
fonts would
be greatly appreciated. Email me directly if you have any clues.

Steve

I heard this beautiful song twice on the radio. I think it is call Moon
Light Shadow and was release way back in 1983. It's by a female singer with
a sweet voice. Light guitar-pop kinda stuff. The ........ represent part of
the lyrics which I could not make up.

The lyrics of the song are as follow:

....carry away by a moon light shadow(mls)
lost in the a river that......
far away on the other side
he was caught in the middle
of a desperate fight
and she could'nt fund how to pull through

the tree that whisper in the evening
carry away by a mls
sing a song of sorrow and grieving
carry away by a mls

......far away on the other side
he was shot six times by a man on the run
and she could'nt find how to pull through

Chorus-that's what i thinl
I stay , I pray , see you in heaven far away
I stay , I pray , see you in heaven one day

4am in the morning
carry away by a mls
I watch your vision for me
carry away by a mls

the stars looked nice in the silvery night
far away on the other side
will you come to talk to me this night
but she could'nt find how to pull through

But I don't know where I can find the Lyrics of Keeping the Weekend Free

Liquorice may appear very soon on OLGA...

So may Faith over reason too, even if I seem to be the only one who seem
