For Americans, it was their first album. There was no Garlands or EPs
before TPO, so it seems like an album. I didn't know it was a
compilation for a long time because I didn't own it, and when I did
get a copy, it was a cassette tape someone made for my ex-girlfriend.
I really don't want to talk about this anymore...it's subject to
debate but a compilation was not what was in mind when they asked
about your favorite album.
What do you folks know about 'moose' and 'The Felt'? Are there web
pages for either of them?
Date: Sat, 14 Oct 1995 02:17:28 -0500
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the most recent 7-inch
(and I think the new album?) by Slumberland Records' the Ropers was produced
by our UVS-mastermind friend Kurt Ralske. It's damn good stuff too: fuzzy
guitar and breathy vocals which can rock out in just the right places. YOu
all should check it out.
Also, it appears that ESP-Summer is being released domestically on
Farrago Records out of Houston. My station just got the 10-inch today
and it's limited to only 1000 copies. Good stuff!

Beg pardon, I know plenty of Americans who bought CT stuff on import
before TPO. Also since TPO came out on an indie, I don't think it
made quite the impression that it might have if, say, Sire had
released it. But of course this is only my experience, others' may
differ...

Felt, not "the" Felt. Best band ever (well, almost). What do you want
to know? I heard someone did a web page, but haven't seen it...

Kurt did the album too. I enthusiastically second the recommendation.
And check out their earlier Slumberland EP too.

hey!
just wondering what other cds and such did the sundays put out besides
their 2 cds, "reading writing and arithmetic", and "blind". i.e. eps,
live stuff, etc...a little discography would be appreciated!
thanks!
p.s. listening to "reading writing and arithmetic" right now and
remembered they were on the rough trade label...did they release anything
besides "rw&a" before, i.e. the slowdive eps before "just for a day"?

on Cleopatra, called "Process". Voc. by Genesis P. Orridge
2. According to the rumours, Goettel died some time in August. Overdose..
3. Nivek Ogre has his own project called Welt.
4. Skinny Puppy will release some material under the name "Furnace" next year.
Hard to say for sure, they have problems with their label American.

Just doing random Lycos searches, and I discovered that the singer for
the late lamented Hugo Largo, Mimi Goese, took a break from her
performance art to collaborate with Moby on a few tracks on his new
album. I haven't cared much for Moby's product in the pass, does Mimi
redeem the new one?

great hip-hop/jazz that is almost exclusively instrumental. the problem is i

of the store. does anyone know where i could order stuff that was released on
this label? any information is greatly appreciated.

It's not the same band. Sheer the Creation band don't seem to have put
anything out for about 4 years and I imagine they've been dropped for not
making Alan McGee's drug fund as large as it could be and for not being
Oasis. I have no idea what they sound like, though. Scheer the 4AD band we
know about and they have a 'c' in their name.

The last I heard was that it was finally going to come out before the end of
the year (but I can't remember exactly when). Christina Files has replaced
Seana (now with her own band, Syrup) on guitar. I saw them last summer and
the new somgs seemed very much in the Blonder... vein but in an interview
around the same time, Damon was talking about using vibraphones and other
instruments and how the drummer had been studying African drumming. There
was no sign of that at the gig, although they did mess around with a couple
of Casios between songs.

First off, I don't think Skinny Puppy really qualifies as thislisty, no
matter how much you tweak the term...
However, for any Puppy fans out there, I feel the need to correct some
>1. CevinKey/Goettel and the gang's project Download has eventually an

>on Cleopatra, called "Process". Voc. by Genesis P. Orridge
The project is indeed called Download, but the album is called "Furnace".
It is already out in the US on Cleopatra.
>2. According to the rumours, Goettel died some time in August. Overdose..
This is true and unfortunate.
>3. Nivek Ogre has his own project called Welt.
As far as I can tell, Welt has been talked about for a long time but is not
in existence. Perhaps this has changed, since Ogre probably has lots of
free time on his hands ever since Puppy broke up and Goettel died (two
separate, unrelated incidents).
>4. Skinny Puppy will release some material under the name "Furnace" next
year.
>Hard to say for sure, they have problems with their label American.
The Skinny Puppy album is called "The Process", and it's contracted to
American, although there have been problems with the label. The American
home page has some music and video clips from the album, so it seems like
it will be released relatively soon.
