Anyone interested in finding out more on Jean Cocteau? How about if I told you
that may have been a guardian of the Holy Grail? (Not the Monty Python
movie). There's an interesting program I saw on the Learning Channel about the
Templars, that has a section on Jean Cocteau...(an interview even!) I've
checked and the episode will be aired again on 8/25/95. Its called The Ancient
Since this is only vaguely thislisty, I'll save the details for private e-mail.
Unless ofcourse there is enough interest....
So, in essence, we now have a GWAR --> Cocteau--> Holy Grail connection!
Where will it all end?

I don't know the label but the band is Massive Attack, kinda hip-hop sort of
band. I never really liked them, but that song is good. maybe I just haven't
heard much good stuff from them.

Slight variations exist within each cut. It depends on how well you listen.
For more info on Cranes see Rollingstone April 2, 1992 n627 p.46.
Check out at your local library's periodicals section. They might have it.
You have a very cool signature file (below). That's why I responded.

Someone asked if the new Chandeen album was in fact out. To my dismay the
answer is yes. Anyone wishing to buy me a copy will not only win one of
my trademark bad reviews but also unexpectedly get the disc back. :)
Actually someone on the Bel Canto list is wild about it but has posted
minimal comment. Maybe ask him.
Does our little In the Nursery wing still exist? I thought I might call
attention to their track on the new Sabres of Paradise mini-album. (Mr.
Norman probably already mentioned this and I am a fool.) Aside from the
disc being overall a rokking reinterpretation (by idm staples) of a
somewhat lackluster album, the ITN song is an extremely nice melding of
their own style with the existing Sabres elements. It says "Haunted
Dancehall, performed by In the Nursery", and may well be, but to me it
seems like a collaboration. Very dramatic with all the necessary elements
blown up to monumental proportions and tense nerves. Nice, but
unfortunately only six minutes long. (Other artists featured were LFO,
Chemical Brothers, and Nightmares on Wax, plus two Sabres mixes. Phunky
shit.)

esp DOLPHINS???? i have seen dozens of posts on warren's little side project
and have always seen it as being esp SUMMER. anyone else have an opinion on
this?
also, i have some info on the "tape" that everyone has been trying to get a
hold of.
i called the place that is distributing them (the record collector) and i got
a hold of the guy who is handling the situation.
first of all, the address posted was off as far as the zip code goes.
the correct address is:
The Record Collector
28143 W. Eight Mile Rd.
Livonia, Michigan 48152 (previously posted as 48153)
the phone # is: 1-810-473-8350
when i spoke tho the guy heading the project (Davin), he said the tapes are
being made on a request only basis, there is no bulk orders being made. so
that is why it is taking a bit longer than a usual order.
to get one of these little jewels, he said to mail a check (i assume they'll
take money orders, and probably visa - call to confirm this) to them for
$4.50 (us dollars) which includes shipping charges. he also said, that on
the envelope, (if ordered via snail mail) mark it ATTN: DAVIN (checks payable
hope this has helped some of you! :)

While we're plugging fanzines on the list, can I offer Spleen? It's a
square-format (21x21cm) nicely-printed magazine with a full colour cover,
run by Damien Power (editor, writer) and myself (designer, writer). It's a
revival of a zine we used to do a few years back, so it's called Spleen 2,
but this is (confusingly) issue 1.
It features a massive, 95% accurate Throwing Muses discography (and a long
interview with David Narcizo), an interview with Emma Anderson of Lush and
interviews with Superchunk, Ian McKaye (Fugazi), Grant McLennan (ex-Go
Betweens, now solo), Deniz Tek (ex-Radio Birdman) and a few other bits and
pieces. Nice quality production, pretty good design (if I say so myself!)
and a cover featuring a colour-seared still from the Muses "Fish" video and
Polaroid self-portraits of Superchunk. 44 pages, no advertising and our
editor's policy is to let the artists talk, without huge overwritten pieces
containing six lines of conversation.
If you're interested, I could probably send copies overseas for $4 and two
IRC's (or whatever it is you pay for postage internationally with).
I can be contacted at
[email protected]
or
Matthew Kirkcaldie, 4 Wayne Avenue, Sandy Bay 7005, Australia.
Thanks,
Matthew.

i recently started homepages on two bands :
* THE GOD MACHINE : a San Diego originating band who moved over to London
and made some fantastic recordings. Last year, their bass-player passed
away, so they just broke up the band.
This homepage is going rather well, thanks to a lot of responses and
reactions.
The address : http://eduserv.rug.ac.be/~cdmunter/godmac.html
* POND : SubPop-band from Portland, Oregon ; not that well-known, but
worth checking out.
This page is still under very heavy construction, but all additions are
welcome !!!

Hey loved ones. You *know* I'm not your average spam distributor, but golly
you just gotta read the following and enjoy!! Stories of revenge are oft so
sweet and all the more enjoyable when interactive. Wheeee!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>snip>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
My daughter & I had just finished a salad at Neiman-Marcus Cafe in Dallas
and decided to have a small dessert. Because our family are such cookie
lovers, we decided to try the "Neiman-Marcus Cookie". It was so
excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe. With a cute
smile, she said, "Yes." I asked how much, and she responded, "Two
fifty." I said with approval, just add it to my tab. Thirty days later,
I received my VISA statement from Neiman-Marcus and it was $285.00. I
looked again and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and
about $20.00 for a scarf. As I glanced at the bottom of the statement,
it said, "Cookie-Recipe - $250.00." Boy, was I upset!! I called
Neiman's Accounting Dept. and told them the waitress said it was "two
fifty," and I did not realize she meant $250.00 for a cookie recipe.
I asked them to take back the recipe and reduce my bill and they said
they were sorry, but because all the recipes were this expensive so not
just everyone could duplicate any of our bakery recipes...the bill would
stand. I waited, thinking of how I could get even or even try and get
any of my money back. I just said, "Okay, you folks got my $250.00 and
now I'm going to have $250.00 worth of fun." I told her that I was going
to see to it that every cookie lover will have $250.00 cookie recipe from
Neiman-Marcus for nothing. She replied, "I wish you wouldn't do this."
I said, "I'm sorry but this is the only way I feel I could get even," and
I will. So, here it is, and please pass it to someone else or run a few
copies....I paid for it; now you can have it for free. (Recipe may be
2 cups butter 4 cups flour 2 tsp. soda
2 cups sugar 5 cups blended oatmeal** 24 oz. chocolate
chips
2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp. salt 4 eggs
1 - 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated) 2 tsp. baking powder
3 cups chopped nuts 2 tsp. vanilla (your choice)
Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; mix together
with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add chocolate
chips, Hershey Bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place two inches apart
on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112
cookies.
**measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder
Have fun!!! This is not a joke-----this is a true story....................
That's it. Please, pass it along to everyone you know, single people,
mailing lists, etc..... 100

Perhaps I should say Cocteau Twins fans who like FCC...
The interview happened right after the tour ended, or perhaps
while on the tour, so it doesn't surprise me that it reads like
it did. It must have happened a within a few months of all the
FCC interviews.
Nothing new? It is the first time she said she had been sexually
abused in an interview.

At least some of the ItN wing still exists. What is Sabres of

Please pardon the repetitive cookie spam post that I sent just the other day.
'Twas a truly rare occasion on which I was actually amused by a piece of

proceeding to hurl the chunks of reconstituted cookie message. I

Sorry, but I read that at least a year ago in a big interview, probably
either the one from AP or Select; the writer had asked her about the

what's recommended? I got the Sarah sampler "Glass Arcade"
and three Field Mice songs are on it. In fact, any Sarah band
info would be appreciated. (Why don't you write to Sarah, yourself,

music that has been absent from the states since, oh, the mid 1960's.
