What's this? You mean they sent out a newsletter and I didn't get it? I
thought that after sending them out so...er, erratically, they'd just given
up bothering altogether. Well, jeez...maybe they lost my address. No, I got
the DCD live album postcard! Anyway, I babble. Would anyone mind posting a
brief synopsis of said list? Pretty please? Oh come on...pretend you're
Santa, and I'm sitting on your lap. Please?

Blah blah blah,

Both TWP and TM are featured in the new issue of CMJ New Music
Monthly Jan 1995. TWP have a full page ad for 'Funky Little Demons',
and the album is also reviewed, some snippets...

"The Wolfgang Press has always been one of the 4AD label's
underexamined enigmas. Sticking with an angular, spare, downbeat rock
sound through most of the '80s, the group pulled a startling
about-face on 1991's Queer, transforming itself into a heavily
produced, smoothly glib funk band capable of concocting such
danceable, sugary treats as "Honey Tree."...Michael Allen's calm
baritone is the only point of refrence linking the two Wolfgang
Presses, except now he croons like Bryan Ferry instead of moaning
like Peter Murphy...the quiet jazziness of the slower tracks all
scream 1970s, but it's handled in a tasteful, non-kitschy way...and
while longtime Wolfgang Press fans (probably already reeling from the
Sisters of Mercy becoming a cheese-metal band) may raise an eyebrow
at _Funky Little Demons_...well... funkiness, it's bound to add some
color to their music collections. Recommended if you like: Roxy
Music, Primal Scream."

"Going South" is also featured on the free CD (track 3)

There's also an interview/article with Throwing Muses, which I
haven't read yet, so, I'm going to go do that.

Dear guitarists on this list,

I'm in the market for a new amp and I'm trying to remember what
the lead guitarist for Lisa Germano plays through...? I remember he had a
Gretch Duo Jet (my fovorite guitar ever...sigh...$1700) played through an
ibanez mostortion and tube screamer pedals into some old fender blackface
but...WHICH ONE?

Thanks for your help and if you others are curious, THe Pale
Saints guitarist plays Les Paul's through roland processors (2) into a
big Marshall with a 4X12 cabinet (don't get within 12 rows of it or you're
a deaf (wo)man)

I have a copy of the AVAM video that I will be willing to sell
if the price is right. I don't know what it's worth (I paid
$25) but a high enough profit margin may convince me to let it
go as I need money more right now. I like the video quite a bit
though so it's quite possible that I won't sell it for what
people are willing to pay.
so- make me an offer.
thanks
ted

I recall when AUTOMATIC DIGEST would say such about '4AD-L Digest - 22
Dec 1 1' :-

AD> kj-- as much as I don't share your enthusiasm for HNIA, I'm
AD>also surprised that they charted so low. There seems to be quite a

It's quite simple why they scored so low - damn lazy people just not
voting, people who wouldn't know 4AD from 4BC if it weren't for the
supercalifraglisitic mr defever, but who still didn't bother to vote,
people in fact like, ehhmmm, me ....

scurrying back into lurkerhood
